The Ground Project will result in the Board making a decision as to which of three candidate sites the club will develop as a home ground. The Board will at that time also appoint a member to the post of Groundsman, with the initial role of project leader for implementation of the new home ground project.
Three project groups have been formed with the task of investigating the feasibility of the three candidate sites. The groups will include in their feasibility study an analysis and recommendation of the material requirements for the wicket area.
We will use Spånga's ground for the 2005 season. We are still pursuing two lines of enquiry, for Årsta and Djurgården respectively. Whilst one report on materials has recommended asphalt on the basis of cost and maintenance (with regard to the Swedish climate) another source has returned information on creating a concrete pitch with permanent artifical grass surface. Whatever the material this project represents a significant investment for the club and an important issue is that of security of our investment, e.g. we don't want to lose our pitch underneath a block of flats two years after making it.
